Let’s take a closer look at the stop. Using it for repetitive marking doesn’t need much explanation, but we built in an extra feature that takes it up a notch, literally. Set the edge of the stop at your chosen dimension, place the tip of a pencil in the specially milled notch in the end of the rule. The notch aligns the center of the pencil to the end of the rule and keeps it aligned as you
slide along the edge of your stock. Now you can scribe a line perfectly parallel with the edge of your board at exactly the dimension you set.
Now, slip the stop off the end, slip it through the cut-out and you’ve got a stand that holds your rule perfectly upright while you adjust the height of a router bit, saw blade or drill bit using the end graduations
For furniture and cabinet work, the large size of the Bench Rules makes them a pleasure to use. The blades are 1-3/4″ wide with laser-engraved scales accurate to .004″ total accumulated error over the entire length of the rule. The 1/16″ thick stainless steel blades undergo a special finishing process to give them a non-glare satin finish and the deep, dark engraving will never
wear off.
