The more common 1-piece extruded squares that look similar typically can’t deliver the level of perpendicularity necessary for serious woodworking. By machining each side of the Joiner’s Saddle Square from a billet of solid aluminum and joining them with an extended boss, we’re able to hold very tight tolerances for both flatness and perpendicularity of the two sides. This tool delivers the level of precision necessary for accurate joinery.
Let’s take a closer look at the scribing guides. A staggered array of 1mm holes on1/32″ centers perfectly guides a mechanical pencil for lines parallel to the edge of your board. Woodpeckers has built that feature into many of its tools, but there’s something different on the Joiner’s Saddle Square. Its unique right-angle design let us align one group from right to left and another left to right…no more trying to read upside down for half your scribing jobs.
