Exploring Different Types of Joinery With Keith Neer
February 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Joining two pieces of wood is undoubtedly one of the most basic woodworking procedures but how many times have you had to stop and decide…. Mortise and tenon? Dovetail? Box? Lap? Etc? Then once you decide on what type of joint you want there are questions about execution, glue type, long grain vs. short grain, amount of glue and wood expansion to consider.
While such questions can be daunting there are easy rules of thumb and “tricks” to guide your decisions. Additionally, there is some great equipment available today to assist every level of woodworker in becoming a better craftsman. Come join us on February 3rd for a complete discussion about all the above issues as well as a practical demonstration on a variety of joints. Significant time will be spent on the proper use of “floating” tenon technology and how to execute those “tricky” challenges like precisely placing a mortise and tenon joint in the middle of a large board… those too far to reach with standard mortising equipment.
